Except that I seem to have lost the "From this" bit! This is two versions of the same basic article, for two different newspapers, though.

GLOW 2011, September 9^th and 10^th, so get ready to shine!

Are you in the mood for what has been described as “ one of the most original, exhilarating art experiences anywhere”? Are you an artist or performer, who has ideas for displays, sculptures, dances, paintings, or other pieces of illuminated art? Are you someone who would gladly volunteer for the sheer joy of being a part of the experience? Are you simply an observer, waiting for the delightful beauty of the lit up night to come crashing into your being, in much the same way that refreshing, healing, salty ocean waves crash down onto heated flesh, bringing relief and exquisite joy, inside and out? Whatever you are, you are welcome and there is a place for you in the celebration.

Performers, artists: Sites are assigned on a first come, first serve basis, and, deadline for entries is August 15^th. Entry forms are available online at http://www.trianglelranch.com/glow.htm Individual and group endeavors are welcome.

Attendees: GLOW, now eight years strong in tradition, is Arizona's premier illuminated art festival. For two nights, September 9^th and 10^th, from 7 pm -11 pm nightly, artists, musicians, dancers, performers and their audience will create an experience like you have never witnessed before, even if you have attended in years past. Dress in dazzling illuminated outfits that blur the lines between artist and audience, performer and participant. Start planning your fabulous fashions now! The culture of GLOW is open and celebrates life and self-expression. This is your invitation to join the excitement and make your unique contribution to GLOW! Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 under 18, and, if you are under three years of age, you get in free – so long as you bring a responsible adult with you!

What can you expect to see, newbie? Everything from amazing pieces by some of the premiere artists of Arizona , to performance art, to proud displays of the art of children. So long as it glows, its fair game. You will park and walk onto the grounds, under colorful, glowing lantern light, view inside the ADOBE barn/gallery where lit artwork will be on display, and, walk the outdoor sculpture path. When your little tootsies are tired, and, your toes are glowing red from exertion, there will be food and drink available for purchase, and, a cafe style porch, of the 1890's ranch house, upon which to sit, natter with fellow gawkers, and, watch the spectacle.

Walking shoes and a flashlight are highly recommended. Pets are not allowed in. Tickets are available at the gate, online (coming soon) and Bohemia Artist Emporium in Tucson. GLOW 2011, Call to artists, performers, and, volunteer staff

GLOW 2011 is set to shine on Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10, from 7 pm – 11 pm each night. You know what would be great? If the people who paid to get in, had something to make them go “Wow!” once they arrived.

If you would like to participate or volunteer for GLOW, because you have something to artistically express that will share the deepest depths of your inner being, or, because, you really like making people go “Wow!” and “Gee!” and .. other words that they are likely to say when you do something startling, unique, different, weird, and/or beautiful, let the fine folks at Triangle L Ranch know. Sites are assigned on a first come, first serve basis, and, deadline for entries is August 15^th.

Entry forms are available online at http://www.trianglelranch.com/glow.htm Individual and group endeavors are welcome - Gather your people and shine your light! Apply to do a performance piece, stage a fashion show, create a glowing installation in the landscape, exhibit your illuminated artwork, set-up a series of workshops - share your creative vision. Volunteer to help staff the event are, of course, always welcome. Bonus points to anyone passing through the desert, who gets a shiny gray alien to attend.

What about those who just want to attend? Visitors can expect illuminated sculpture, mixed-media installations, light projections, glowing performance art and live music. GLOWs' spectacular displays range from works by school children to avant-garde pieces by some of the states' best known artists. Attendees park and walk the road onto the grounds under a galaxy of colorfully lit lanterns that appear to float in the night sky. The ADOBE barn/gallery hosts lit artwork and the outdoor sculpture path and the ranch landscape is filled with glowing installations.
There will be food and non-alcholholic beverages available for purchase. The 1890's ranch house is open and welcomes guests to sit on the cafe style porch and enjoy the spectacle. Walking shoes and flashlights are recommended. No pets. Tickets are available at the gate, online (coming soon) and Bohemia Artist Emporium in Tucson.

GLOW 2011 Update

What a weekend! GLOW 2011 held on Sept. 9 and 10 was impacted by unpredictable severe weather conditions beyond our control, especially, on Saturday night. Mother Nature had a show of her own featuring lighting, wind, rain, mud, hail and even the possibility of tornados The forecast kept changing rapidly and despite our optimistic “rain or shine” approach the resulting storms thwarted our ability to present GLOW as fully as we all envisioned.There were power outages in some places, risk to sensitive electronics and equipment that prevented participants from setting up  and many who planned to attend decided to stay safely at home instead of venturing out.

That being said - in typical GLOW fashion -  our amazing community shone brightly. We all did our best and made the most of the challenging conditions. Thanks to the tireless support of the many artists, musicians, performers volunteers and vendors.  Both nights, people came out with  a spirit of adventure, a positive attitude and had a great time even in the mud. It was crazy and wonderful.

At the same time, it was disappointing after all the effort and energy that was contributed. We wanted our good GLOW experience which we got, but in a different way than intended.

So, Saturday, Sept. 24th, 7-11 pm we will hold a GLOW again!  event

 A condensed GLOW experience on the night of September 24, 2011 from 7-11 pm. A chance to fulfill our GLOWing dreams! A chance for all the GLOW supporters who missed attending to come out and enjoy. An opportunity to spruce up some of the installations, the Triangle L grounds. maybe even improve on our pieces, costumes and have some new artwork in place. We will focus mostly on the area of the sculpture path, gallery, gift shop with a stage on the patio for performances and music. All are invited. Keep checking the website for updates and a schedule of participants and performers... GO GLOW!

GLOW again! An “after the storm” event.

sp..utter .. wipe .. “Excuse me while I just wring the water out of this announcement.” .. wring .. “Ah, there, that's much better. On to the story, proper, then.”

Once upon a time, there was a ranch, but, not just any ordinary ranch, where cows frolicked, no! This was a special ranch, where things glowed at night, walk paths were set out for walking upon, and, for the price of $10 most any adult at all, even the strangely dressed ones – Strike that! Especially the strangely dressed ones! - could come inside and feast their eyes on much art that was glowsome, listen to much music and eat much food that would make their hearts glow, as well, in varying fashions.

It was a lovely ranch, indeed. That is, until the night the wicked rains came and poured down on all and what wished they were sundry.

Glasses were fogged, walk paths became slip slides, electric guitars became frightsome things to wield. The people of the ranch, and their guests, tried to fight through the rain, tried to out wait it, tried to dress for it or take shelter from it, all to no avail. The night was not without some small success, but, it was mostly small from having been shrunk by the rain!

“That being said” continued Sharon, “ - in typical GLOW fashion - our amazing community shone brightly. We all did our best and made the most of the challenging conditions.”

Then, there was the next night, when the rain got serious, and tried to make the ranch into a swimming pool. Was it wet? Oh yes. Was it inspiring to swim in? No, Ma'am, no Sir, it was not! Still, one could pop in here and see some lovely dry, glowing artwork, pop in there to see some more, admire the drenched acapellas, and, a good, if permanently damp, time could be achieved.

“Thanks to the tireless support of the many artists, musicians, performers volunteers and vendors. However, this little ranch dreamed of a finer day, when it's inhabitants and guests would be free of the drubbing rain which beat down on their heads, and, now, they hope, the day is nigh. On Saturday, September 24^th, from 7 pm – 11 pm, Glow again!, an after the storm event, will be open to the public. Tickets are $10 per person, with advance tickets being honored, or cash at the gate, for adults, or $5 under 18, with guardian, or free for children under the age of three.
