The good people from Saddlebrooke Community Outreach Clothe-a-Child Program
were busy Monday morning as they opened up Kid’s
Closet for the children from First Avenue Elementary School. On Monday
September 27th the kids went shopping with a volunteer.
They got to pick out their own clothes and try them on. They also received
books and hygiene items. While waiting they watched tv
or read their books. Kid’s Closet will be open into December for those kids
that qualify. Thank you volunteers and Saddlebrooke
Community Outreach for all the good work you do for our communities.

During the 2009 – 2010 school year the Clothe-a-Child Program & Kid’s Closet
served 21 schools in 3 counties. They provided 3,488
wardrobes for 2,268 children. They had over 200 volunteers helping with this
program. As you can see it takes a lot of money to
run a program like this. Donations in any amount are accepted. You can mail

Kid’s Closet
It’s another year, another few thousand outfits provided, business as usual for the good people who give so graciously of their time to keep the Saddlebrooke Community Outreach Clothe-a-Child Program up and running. Kid’s Closet will be open into December for those kids that qualify. On Monday morning, September 27, they had another busy day, having opened up the Kid’s Closet for the children from First Avenue Elementary School. The kids went shopping with a volunteer, picking out their clothes, trying them on, and also being given books and hygiene items. The primary program for SaddleBrooke Community Outreach is Kids’ Closet, which will be open into December for children who qualify. How does one qualify? The schools determine whether the child qualifies, or the DES office might give a referral, and the eligibility is determined by the same standards as the Free and Reduced Lunch Program standards, in general. Children must also be between Headstart – 8th grade. Or, as they say on their site at http://community-outreach.org/our-programs/kids... “We also provide a new wardrobe for each boy as he is dismissed from Catalina Mountain School.”Kid’s Closet, which services 21 schools now, from Catalina to San Carlos, is open to schools, who bus children in, on Mondays and Thursdays, or the children can come in with their parents, on those days, or on Saturdays.During the 2009 – 2010 school year the Clothe-a-Child Program & Kid’s Closet provided 3,488wardrobes for 2,268 children. They had over 200 volunteers helping with this program. While that is a lot of free labor, for which every single volunteer deserves to be commended, it is also, as any parent who has attempted to take their child clothes shopping can tell you, an expensive service.
