Lobitos Preschool Child Find
Remember Preschool? Or, perhaps it was called Kindergarten? A room full of other children, mats on the floor, graham cracker snacks with cartons of milk, days filled with games and songs and stories so that you barely noticed you were learning. Oh, but you were learning! What a blessing that was, too, when First Grade rolled around, and all the people of the class were sat in a circle and asked to read, and you, preschool participant, could do it. Not to mention that you already knew where the bathrooms were, and what sort of behavior the teacher expected out of you. Do you remember that?
Well, I remember that, even though I had only been there a week or so, due to living so far out in the wilderness that it was impossible for me to attend every day. Really, it was only about thirteen miles out of town, our home, but, some wilderness is wilder than others, so you’ll just have to trust me as to the impossibility of full attendance. Even the week helped, though! I did have some of the same games, learning tools, to use as the children in the preschool class, and that helped as well, but, the time in the classroom really made a difference.
Lobitos Preschool will be screening and registering children, who will be four years of age by September 1, for preschool on August 11 from 8:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m, and from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Come to the Lobito’s Preschool Classroom (Room 305) of Winkelman Elementary School, 824 Thorne Avenue. Winkelman, AZ, with your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, the $35 semester or $70 yearly fee in cash or money order, and, of course, your child to be tested.
Important to remember is that you may not pay by check, payments are made at the Elementary Office, and if you have further questions on the process, call (520) 356-7876 Ext. 2202. Also, they will be able to screen children who will be three years of age by September 1, 2009 for developmental delays.
Parents, whether you remember your own experience with preschool or not, take it from someone who does, that it really helps a child feel more settled into school life, which is so much different than being at home. Especially if the child is not yet used to a schedule, or if he or she is shy by nature, this little step into the world of education can save them much trouble later in their educational careers.
Once registered, it will be time for the Preschool Orientation, to be held on Thursday August 13 at 9: am, for all preschool children, in Room 305. At this orientation, the
preschool staff will review the handbook with all parents. It is a prerequisite to your child attending preschool that a parent attend this meeting. Preschool will begin on Monday, August 17, with the starting time for students to be divulged to the parents at this orientation.

Give your child an educational and social advantage that will help them make the most of their time in school. Preschool can make the difference between seeing school as that place they send you to, where you are forced to learn things, or that place where you get to go and share in learning things. Think about it! Then, pass the Graham crackers, please?

- BLYTHARTalmost 2 years agoWhat … no comments? Of course, with all due respect, this is only of interest to people who live in Winkelman :)It must be a private school, because here in UK children go to pre-school free.
- Well, I’m not sure what it is. It may be that this is .. in some areas, at least, they have preschool and then they have kindergarten. Preschool, in that scenario, is a special service for parents who haven’t bothered to teach their young child a darned thing and/or children who just have a harder time learning. So, you have to pay for testing, to prove your child needs it before they are going to waste the money of the tax payers on babysitting your child. Otherwise, you wait a year and enroll them in kindergarten. There are many variations on that theme, though. For instance, there is Head Start, for children that really need help, and that’s free and they take them at a younger age than this one says, usually. Then, of course, there are some places that don’t have preschool or kindergarten, and they require the parent to actually have gotten the child started on learning to read and write before they’ll accept him or her in first grade. However, many places still believe that is what first grade is for.! That’s why it says it comes first. And, with all due respect, this is of interest to potential employers. That’s why I post such things as this on Red Bubble. It is writing work, which I got paid to do, and it is an example of what I did. Now, run along and make me a book! lol <—- That was a joke, by the way! Wouldn’t want to start an(other) international incident.– Arletta
- BLYTHARTalmost 2 years agoMy apologies … I didn’t realise this was an example of your writing (which is good quality by the way); I thought you were encouraging people on Redbubble to send their kids to kindergarten. Of course, American system is totally different to ours. Education and medical care are all free here.
- Yes, I know. I have a friend who partakes of the free part, quite regularly; and, then, so he can get it when he needs it, and what he actually needs, and better quality, he goes ahead and pays for it, too. Private hospital care, and such, that is. There are times he can’t get in, otherwise, and would have been dead. So, there’s a balance, I guess. It’s alright, about not realizing. I guess I should put a little disclaimer at the top of each one, but, I get tired.Education is free, here; unless you want something special. The medical care, hmmph.. it used to be more free and better, but, a lot of that has been ruined by other people taking advantage of the system. Used to be, you could go in and get help, and you’d pay if you had the money to pay. You’d get the government to pay if you qualified. But, regardless, they could not turn you away from needed medical help. Now, they still allegedly can’t, they’ve just figured out more loopholes around it. That, a lot of it, depends on the doctor and what his motivation is. I went to see a naturopath that gave me a break, more than once, where he charged me for the supplies but not his time. That was very cool of him.He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, come to think of it. I mean, he is one, not was one. lol Which, the guy who freaked on me for sounding like one, would probably also dislike him for being a naturopath, so he’d be doubly disliked, despite being a really nice guy.– Arletta
- BLYTHARTalmost 2 years agoSo many people dislike other people … why can’t we all just agree to differ and get on with our lives.
- That would be lovely.– Arletta
